Manistee County Historical Museum: The Water Works Museum

Construction of the Water Works building began in August 1882 and was completed in July of 1883 with the company beginning to supply water to the City of Manistee later that month. The Water Works facility was used to pump the city’s water supply until 1947 when it was decided to change from a steam pumping system to an electric pumping system.
Today the building is preserved as the county’s first historical museum and houses logging, railroad, and marine exhibits and memorabilia of Manistee in the nineteenth century. Open July & August with an admission cost of $1.
