Plan your #MyManistee Staycation
Your spring getaway is closer than you think. No need to jet off to some far away location when Manistee has everything you need for a relaxing spring vacation that is both affordable and fun. From outdoor exploration to cultural performances, you’ll find a full range of things to try during your time up North.

Explore Arcadia
North on M22, you will find the peaceful community of Arcadia. This quaint small town is known for its access to recreational activities of all sorts. Being surrounded by thousands of acres of land protected by the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, Arcadia is a great destination for outdoor explorers.
The Arcadia Marsh Nature Preserve is a haven for 150 bird species and therefore a favorite spot for avid bird watchers. This attraction appeals not just to birders but to visitors of all ages. You’ll enjoy spectacular vistas while trekking the ¾ mile boardwalk spanning the marsh.
As if that weren’t enough natural beauty…wait until you see Arcadia Dunes! Just a little further north on M22 is the Old Baldy trailhead for Arcadia Dunes, an easy trail system for hikers of all abilities including a universally accessible boardwalk trail to a platform high above the Lake Michigan shoreline. Visit in mid-May to experience peak trillium season!

Rock Hunt at Magoon Creek
Although it might not be perfect weather for a traditional day at the beach, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t find your way to the water. The spring thaw ushers back access to the lakeshore and a brand-new crop of rocks and beach glass perfect for hunt of the season! Whether you like to hunt for Petoskey stones, beach glass, quartz, pudding stones or agates you are sure to be delighted by the selection found on our area beaches.
Magoon Creek is the perfect spot to spend some quiet time strolling the shoreline, enjoying the rhythmic sound of the water, searching for the next addition to your collection, or just a souvenir or two to remember your stay.

Take a Cultural Break
Catch a 25-cent Saturday morning family film or first-run movie at the Vogue Theatre, a historic art deco movie house providing entertainment to Manistee County for over 8 decades.
See a live performance, view an art exhibition or take part in an art workshop at the historic Ramsdell Regional Center for the Arts.
All ages are welcome to the Manistee County Library. Our local library offers toddler story time, children/teen workshops and is in one of the most historic buildings in Manistee County, open to locals and visitors!
