Manistee National Forest/Big-M: Just off M-55 between Wellston & Manistee the Big-M Recreation Area offers you a beautiful opportunity to experience the clear skies like never before. When the northern lights grace our skies, you’ll want to experience them from one of Manistee County’s most cherished locations with background music provided by Lake Michigan. Portage Point Beach:  Situated in the rolling dunes at the mouth of Portage Lake on Lake Michigan, Portage Point Beach is a peaceful and scenic spot that sees changes with the seasons. Look upwards and revel in the wonders of the night sky as the months turn warmer.

Arcadia Scenic Overlook: Inspiration Point, beautiful in every season and all weather patterns. On M-22, the iconic overlook’s high elevation and 144 step climb to the top of the stairs, provides beautiful Lake Michigan views of the Manistee County shoreline from Arcadia to Onekama, and on a clear night you can see the stars above Manistee. No need to climb the stairs to admire and awe at the waves of Lake Michigan. The Arcadia Overlook is point #8 on the Lake Michigan Coastal Tour.
