Trails in Manistee County
Orchard Beach State Park
Explore Manistee County’s Premier State Park
Orchard Beach State Park is situated on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. A stairway leads from the campground to the beach and self-guided hiking trails are adjacent to the park. The park offers a great hike for the casual hiker. Quick and scenic with many information stations along the trails. Learn about the natural history of the State Park and Manistee County shoreline. This is also a great spot for a morning cross country ski in the winter months.
The nature trails are part of the state park, therefore a state park passport is required. You can obtain a pass at the ranger station in the park.
PLAQUES & HISTORY
On the trail system, from the #1 marker to the #8 marker on the “small loop” there are may plaques that will describe the history of the “great blow down” along with an overview of the plant species that thrive in the area.
